Te Reo Kori

Over the last four weeks of school we have been improving our skills with the poi, rakau and action songs.
We would go to Mrs Brooks and learn how to use the poi to accompany the song "Butterfly"" that we had been taught.
With Mrs Irwin we would learn to use the rakau with a partner to the song "E Papa".
In room 6 we learnt some new action songs and would listen to legends about Maui.

Next week, we are going to develop our gymnastic skills!!!

Bike Safety- Riding at School

Wow!! We have had 2 brilliant days riding our bikes for fitness and learning how to ride safely.
We have helped check our bikes are all safe by checking the spokes, tyres were pumped up, seats were at the right height and didn't wobble and that our brakes could work.
We have been riding our bikes around a track at school to build up our fitness. There are lots of pink checks after our bike riding!!
We all have very safe and secure helmets as well!!

Bus Safety

On Wednesday Team 1 and 2 were learning about bus safety. We watched a dvd with Constable Kendrick in the hall. Then each class had a bus trip from school up to Appleton Kindergarten.
We learnt ...
*always sit on the bus until it stops moving or the engine stops.
*put your bag under your seat or on your knees.
*talk in low voices so you don't distract the driver.

Here are some photos......

Scooter Safety

On Thursday Constable Kendrick came to visit us to talk about safe walking and safe scootering.
We can be safe by.....
*walking and scootering on the footpath.
*checking driveways for cars before we walk past them.
*wearing footwear and helmets if we are scootering.
*listening for cars.
*looking both ways before and while we walk across the road.

Grasshopper Tennis

On Wednesday we had Oscar come and teach us some skills so we can play tennis. We had to roll the ball around the racquet, hit the ball up and down, bounce the ball on the edge of the racquet- this is called the hammer!
We had a wonderful time with Oscar- can't wait until he is back on 29 April!
